in the middle of the screen, there should be gigantic text that says something like 'To exit the deck manager, you need x / 5 cards minimum'. You literally can't miss it, though this in fact refers to equipped cards. Have you tried clicking on the cards you got?
i feel like ive visited every place on the map and ive only ever seen one other guy in the comic book store, i want to recruit talents but ive only met the one guy and it didnt even give me the option to recruit him

currently at level 8 w linora, says i can advance my relationship but i don't see any way to do so. not sure if this is a bug or i need to talk to her in a specific place.

The other guys are at the farmer's market and the convenience store.
Also it didn't give you an option to 'recruit him' because it requires more gameplay than that

Not enough sustain means you're likely to run out of cards before your opponent does and trigger a loss.
What is the best way to get XP to level up my deck I have just been grinding dates, is there a faster way?
Selling cards also grants you xp, that might help?

Yeah, when you take damage twice you activate Ultra Sense which gives you insight on their next card.

that's levelling them up, not actually advancing the relationship. To advance the relationship, you need to gift them items like in the tutorial.
ok. now things make more sense, i just thought it's the same thing..
so if their level is a different thing, how do i know the current relationship level?

Try a different time as well. That one may need to take place in the evening.
